About the Call

"The Griot" invites writers, students, researchers, artists, professionals, homemakers, grandparents and storytellers to preserve memories that deserve to live beyond generations. The project celebrates personal memories, oral traditions, folklore, family histories and cultural heritage through original writing.

What We Are Looking For

Stories rooted in memory, belonging, family traditions, folklore, recipes, heirlooms, festivals, forgotten words, neighbourhood legends, migration experiences, disappearing crafts, lullabies, landscapes and everyday objects that preserve cultural heritage. Authenticity is valued more than literary perfection.
